The Site

Soul Of Data is an initiative to craft story telling using data, after all, stories are just data with a soul. Keeping that in mind and heart, we begin on this quest of finding the soul of data – Stories. On this journey, we will unfold many mysteries, clear confusions, explore modern data analysis tools and most importantly, we will have lot of fun.

We all know what data is and how it can help us make effective decisions based on facts. But, does data in itself mean anything? The answer is NO. The data is just bits and bytes stored on the disc and is impossible to derive any stories out of the raw data. It is the job of a Data Engineer to read, cleanse, polish and shape the data for analysis. It is at this stage, the soul of the data is formed and business questions are answered.

Hi, I am Gurpreet Singh, you can call me Garry!

I am the author of this site and a full time BI Tech Lead, based in Sydney. I am in the BI space for over a decade and have worked with many multi national clients in various industries across the globe. Past few years have been amazing, I have delivered phenomenal large scale solutions, gained functional knowledge of Insurance, Finance, Accounting, Marketing, e-Commerce and supply chain management, most importantly, have got the opportunity of working with lovely and passionate people across the industry.

I define myself as an Engineer at core, who is always curious about, How Things Work. I carry a passion for tech coaching and giving back to the community.
